Dexter, renowned for his influential involvement with The Avalanches, is set for a string of Australian east coast dates over the course of the summer. Since parting ways with The Avalanches in the early 2000s, the four-time Australian DMC champion and producer has been labelled by Grandmaster Flash as “one of the most creative and forward thinking DJs in the world,” and has completed over 150 European, UK and US dates, notably providing support for Moby and The Chemical Brothers.

Well-known for his work on The Avalanches’ beloved debut Since I Left You—in which he famously provided production on the single “Frontier Psychiatrist”—Dexter has reportedly spent the last year dabbling in techno, dubstep and drum & bass, so what he’ll choose to showcase on this tour is anybody’s guess

Niche Productions is proud to present, Japanese sensation DJKENTARO – 2002 DMC World Champion, performing his only Australian show, an intense audio/visual experience live at The Forum on Saturday 27 March.

First earning the title of DMC Japan Champion in 2001, DJKENTARO won the coveted title of World Champion just a year later at the age of 20, earing the highest score in the contest’s history. In 2005 Kentaro wowed audiences worldwide with his Ninja Tune Solid Steel mix ‘On The wheels of Solid Steel’ which featured exclusive Ninja Tune back catalogue.

His full production debut ‘Enter’ was released in 2007, showing his talent as a producer and featured some guest turns from the likes of The Pharcyde, Spank Rock, and Fat Jon to name a few.

Kentaro’s blend of hip-hop, breaks, DnB and turntablism is untouchable, which has lead to many tours all over the world showing off his epic talent. Kentaro also understands that making a great album doesn’t mean an overload of scratching, with his album making a musical journey through the likes of funk, dub, space-jazz and DnB while staying true to his old skool hip hop roots.

More recently, Kentaro has been working on his second full production album to be released through Ninja Tune later in the year, as well as releasing a line of wristwatches for Nixon Worldwide.

NUMARK INTRODUCES V7 – Motorized Turntable Software Controller Is The Turntable For Today’s DJ

Cumberland, R.I. (Jan. 14, 2010) – Numark, the world’s leading manufacturer of DJ technology, announces V7, its new motorized turntable software controller. Numark developed V7 in strategic partnership with software developer Serato. Numark will unveil V7 at the 2010 Winter NAMM Show in Anaheim, CA, booth 6400, January 14–17.

V7 is the turntable for today’s DJ. V7 delivers outstanding feel and unprecedented power in a single-platter digital DJ controller. V7 is based around the acclaimed adjustable torque, motorized-platter design from Numark’s NS7 and delivers a host of professional features including real vinyl and a slipmat that analog turntablists will love, ultra-precise turntable control, effects controls, mouse-less library navigation, and Strip Search virtual-needle drop. V7’s link function enables DJs to combine one or two V7s with their favorite mixer and their Mac or PC for a completely customizable, totally seamless performance environment.

V7 is the modern DJ’s answer to CD players skipping and vinyl and needles wearing out. VJ users enjoy the feel they prefer and the mixer of their choice, while enjoying the power and capabilities of next-generation technology.

V7 contains a full compliment of effects controls, which enables DJs to access the same effects as in Numark’s NSFX. V7 includes a professional 24-bit audio interface that supports dual decks. It is outfitted with premium faders, knobs and buttons including controls for selecting tracks and blending audio effects in the included Serato ITCH software.

This motorized turntable controller employs the proven, cutting-edge control technology pioneered by Numark in NS7, in which turntable and control information in exchanged at more than ten times standard MIDI resolution. This massive data stream creates the rock-solid, virtually latency-free control for which DJs worldwide have hailed NS7. Because V7’s communication is based upon MIDI, it is MIDI compatible, and therefore DJs can use it with a variety of MIDI software.

V7’s powerful, direct-drive turntable motor is derived from Numark’s popular TTX professional turntable. V7 delivers 12-inch-platter feel on a more-manageable seven-inch platter with high-torque “modern” and low-torque “classic” feel settings.

V7 is the first Serato ITCH controller that DJs can use standalone. Numark’s exclusive Strip Search virtual needle-drop control and complete effects controls for audio manipulation empower DJs’ creativity, and V7’s rugged, all-metal construction with premium knobs and buttons delivers the look and feel that professionals demand.

DJs will find that they virtually never need to touch their mouse when performing or preparing sets with V7. Extensive track-access, loop and cue controls keep the DJ’s hands and eyes away from the computer.
